Is Erica Campell's New Single "I Luh God" That Bad?

In light of the release of Erica Campbell's new album "Help 2.0", I have to honestly say that I am becoming slightly annoyed. I am not annoyed with her album, but rather annoyed with the judgments that have come against her since her new album release. I started to think about  her song "I need just a little more Jesus" that was included on her first album and then remixed(the remix is actually hot might I add) on her second album. I started to think about how true that is for me and probably all of us. I find that a lot of people are turned off by Christians and please do not read this post wrong because I definitely am a Christian. I just happen to understand why people would be turned off and the main reason is because we are just so judgmental.

We as Christians are sometimes the first to judge especially when it comes to our brothers and sisters in Christ. We tend of forget that we are not perfect when we start to form opinions about others.

Matthew 7:3-5 New International Version (NIV)

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.'''

I decided to just put that scripture right there in the middle because I believe that scriptures speak volumes. As some of you may or may not know, Erica Campbell, has a song on her new album entitled "I luh God" and she has received so much negative feedback from it. It's one thing to say you don't like the song, that is your choice. I don't always like every song that I hear either, however, saying that Erica is not a true Christian, she is going mainstream, she is selling out, etc etc is something totally different. Clearly, with the song she is trying to reach a different audience and in the song she is still praising God. I know many people have not yet accepted Gospel in the form of hip hop or rnb, people prefer the old school style of gospel music, but hey its a new day and age and there is nothing wrong with that type of music or Erica's song. We need to stop judging the gifts that God gave people because we have no idea of how God spoke to them or is using them.

Another thing that I see is people asking what is "luh" and to that I say just stop it, really. "Luh" is ebonics for love and most people are just nitpicking just to find something wrong with the song. She says nothing evil or contradicting in the song. I personally actually like the song and it did catch me by surprise because I didn't expect that from her, but that's also why you shouldn't have expectations of people. I am glad that she is trying new things and not letting people define her.

So, now what about you? Do you like the song? It's OK if you don't! In case you haven't heard it, I will post it here. BTW this is the first post that I have made on this particular blog as this one is new, so I didn't include a video, but I will try to include interviews in most of the blog post that I write for this particular blog.
